Back for a second edition, Viva Palestina Orchestra holds another “celebration without borders” in order to stand in solidarity against oppression. With doors opening around 2pm, festivities feature a range of artistic presentations from music by Javier Jara, Luna Tropical, Caravan Strange, Estrella Taxi, Los Fandangueros de Austin, and VPO to speakers Tane Ward, Hanna Salmon, Maxochitl, and Sara Bawany to vendors, educational booths, storytelling, and local Palestinian and Mexican food trucks. “Join us for a day of music, storytelling, and community,” writes VPO in their event copy, “dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Palestinian and oppressed cultures around the world.” – James Scott
