I once saw Werner Herzog eating at a restaurant in Telluride, Colorado, and my friend said they’d never seen me look happier. Anyway: This classic of the demanding director follows much the same arc as many a jungle location-based piece before it – you know, Apocalypse Now, Sorcerer, Predator, etc. A crew lost in lush greenery, sweating until they’ve been driven mad – almost exactly like the characters within the film’s obsession-centric story.
