Summer 2023, Los Angeles funk-punk legends Fishbone sweat the Mohawk in a style dating back to a bunch of late-Seventies high schoolers: ska, metal, and soul. The following year, frontman Angelo Moore returned to the live music mainstay, then circled back a month later, both shows styling a revelation to all. Moore managed to represent all Black music, from Roaring Twenties cabaret-ism and Fifties soul to contemporary roots and jazz. His January release, The Medicine Cabinet, bridges Moore’s solo oeuvre to Fishbone, fairly skronking an avant-cacophony of mad house social commentary over DIY angularity and free rock. Now mix in FB standards “Party at Ground Zero,” “Bonin’ in the Boneyard,” and "Everyday Sunshine.” Alamo City Tex-Mex punx Piñata Protest and local ska/raggas Los Kurados open. – Raoul Hernandez
