fire work

Welcome to late-stage capitalism, where everyone’s a frog in slowly boiling water. Part of National New Play Network’s Rolling World Premiere program, playwright Mary Glen Fredrick’s not-so-distant-future dystopia shows a sudden spike in the temperature. Glass workers Bartholomew and Eleanor are totally content to go along with the work-all-day, play-at-night system they’ve got going on – that is, until they suddenly aren’t. When labor bills and revolutionaries arrive, they’ll find life is more than setting off fireworks for fun. Because the work of dismantling a corrupt capitalist system? That’s totally fire. – Cat McCarrey
