Wes Anderson’s the type of guy who dips his artistic fingers into basically every medium – a creative who enjoys citizenship in multiple cinematic genres and styles at once. His late-2000s stop-motion feature starring George Clooney is one such example, building off his collaboration with genre icon Henry Selick for Steve Zissou’s under-the-sea stop-motion. The cunning, curious, and altogether charming creatures who populate this Roald Dahl adaptation show incredible life, in part due to the cast recording their voice work as inspiration for the animators. You’ve got two chances to catch the flick – once after a fall-focused Subculture Swap on the Dub Trub patio, and then again at Howson Branch Library, where you could snag a copy of Dahl’s original text. Both events are free, so your decision’s all up to vibes. – James Scott
