No candidates on the ballot this time, but it’s an important election nonetheless. Austinites are voting on Proposition Q, a proposed property tax increase. It’s a hefty increase – that’s why the city has to bring it to a public vote – but supporters argue it’s a worthy investment in community priorities like parks and public safety and homeless support. There are also nearly 20 state Constitutional Amendments to consider on the ballot, so get yourself to any polling station in town and earn that “I voted!” sticker while we still get to have a say in how we’re governed. – Kimberley Jones
