Downtown’s got more to do than whatever mayhem’s planned for NYE, and among the copious cultural hubs sits art center the Contemporary. With your admission to the gallery, you can get in on a 45-minute walking tour with one of the museum’s staff through their current exhibitions. Gaze upon the queer avant-garde works of “Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art” or the fantastic fabric features in “The Canvas Can Do Miracles,” and admire the gorgeous wood-grain in “HOST: Raul De Lara.” All this and more await on the corner of Seventh and Congress. – James Scott
