With their unique blend of jazz fusion, hip-hop, and whatever else tweaks their rods, keyboardist DOMi Louna and drummer JD BECK scored surprising popular success, including a Grammy nomination, with 2022 debut LP NOT TiGHT. They return with WHO ASKED?, a sophomore album that ups the ante with more vocals, more pop, and a full orchestra contributing to tracks like “ÉPiPHANiE” and “CONCERTiNO (FOR PiANO, DRUMS & ORCHESTRA).” It’ll be interesting to hear how the duo brings their grand ambitions to life sans orchestra in a place the size of C&TIL. Given the pair’s virtuoso musicianship, they should be just fine. – Michael Toland
