In his first Oscar-nominated film, Dogtooth, two parents sequester their three kids away from the world through physical and psychological means. With no knowledge of conditions around them, the children grow and are confronted with the inevitable hormones and curiosities that come with maturing. The stakes get raised in Lanthimos-ian (i.e., weird, disturbing, and sometimes bloody) ways as the parents struggle to keep their wards penned in.
