Die Young did not, in fact, die young. This heavy crew was floating around the scene in the 2000s as a fairly straight-ahead hardcore act and got more metallic over time, a proud tradition since the 1980s. They reconstituted in 2013 more metalcore than ever before. Powerlifting frontman Daniel Austin is also an author of several books, including the amazingly titled The Way of the Vegan Meathead: Eating for Strength. Also playing this old-school, all-ages punk matinee, Bullshit Detector combines Oi! and goth to shocking success. Born Savage sounds like what the zines used to call “meat and potatoes” hardcore, and Soul Exchange plays pummeling hardcore. – Joe Gross
