David Bowie Birthday Bonanza w/ Jeremiah Jackson, BRUCE, Otis Wilkins & the Spiders From Mars
Eastside indie rock palace Hotel Vegas celebrates what would’ve been David Bowie’s 79th birthday, had he not passed in 2016. That local singer-songwriter Taylor “Otis” Wilkins’ opening set is billed as “Otis Wilkins and the Spiders From Mars” says everything about his intent. BRUCE follows with a sharp, stripped Bowie salute before Jeremiah Jackson closes it out, bringing his self-invented “Glam Daddy Blues” into orbit, exhuming Ziggy’s spirit within a garage-blues format. A free patio screening of Labyrinth warms things up early, and Bowie karaoke runs late for anyone still dancing and looking divine. And don’t forget to play the wild mutation. – Tim Stegall
