One of San Francisco’s most well-known men of letters, Dave Eggers’ eclectic career, on and off the page, is one well worth preserving, from his bestselling memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and many acclaimed novels to his founding of publishing house McSweeney’s and nurturing of new voices at literacy project 826 Valencia. As of this month, the Harry Ransom Center will be doing that preserving, having recently acquired Eggers’ archives. The author and philanthropist will be in town to discuss the acquisition, his storied career, and new novel Contrapposto. – Kimberley Jones
