“Cuídate (Take Care)”

Every summer, several galleries around town offer new local talents an opportunity to showcase their work in group shows. Ivester now offers the results of its first open call, curated by Assistant Director Savannah Diaz and featuring the work of 29 artists from around the country. Returning local favorites Tom Jean Webb, Eli Decker, Michael Villareal, and Sydney Guzman – whose first solo with Ivester, “Under the Moon’s Eye,” debuted in April – star, along with many new names. The theme covers how we self-soothe (“cuídate” means “take care” in Spanish) – something we all need to find inspiration for in this particularly painful era of history. – Lina Fisher
