Artistic wavelengths merge for this special evening collab between Alienated Majesty Books and Women & Their Work on the final day of the gallery’s current exhibition, “Spirit of Discrimination.” The larí garcía show emphasizes the relationship between religion, tradition, and the oppression built into the institutions they’re born from. Thus, Minnesotan and UT-Austin Ph.D. candidate Kōan Brink, co-ambassador for Austin’s chapter of the Authors Guild Daphne DiFazio, and writer/perfumer Miles Matis-Uzzo present readings inspired by “themes of incantation, displacement, giving voice to the voiceless, and hauntings.” The currents? They’re crossing. – James Scott
