Food movies often range in quality from the acrid (Burnt) to the ambrosial (Tampopo). Current Star Wars journeyman du jour Jon Favreau’s 2014 dramedy falls right at this cinematic taste spectrum’s midpoint: a mild road-trip tale slathered with cameos from the director’s most frequent co-workers. Despite being slightly less exciting than an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, the feature nonetheless does its job of leaving you extremely hungry for a Cuban sandwich – the cuisine of choice for protag Carl Casper’s food truck. Rental shop We Luv Video partners with Slow Poke Tattoo to screen the foodie flick at a pop-up benefiting the Central Texas Food Bank, so all you gotta do is bring a nonperishable donation and your own seating. Snag a slice from Sammataro Pizza or sip from a bottle bought at Cork & Screw for a delicious night of East Austin community spirit. – James Scott
