Central Texas Juneteenth

The Eastside comes alive this Friday, as Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District celebrates the end of slavery with a fun run, parade, and park celebration. The festivities begin early, at 8:30am, when runners of all skill sets are invited for a jaunt along the same route – from Leona and East MLK to Hargrave – as the 10am parade. The annual event’s signature procession gives way to an all-day party at Rosewood Park, where food, shopping, kids’ activities, and music from Dallas rappers Dorrough and Tye Harris culminate in a fireworks show.
