Texas’ most dependable exhibitor of Czech cinema, the Czech That Film series continues with family drama Caravan. Zuzana Kirchnerová’s feature debut follows a single mother (Anna Geislerová) and her teen son (David Vostrcil), who has Down syndrome and autism, as they road trip through Italy and discover new aspects of their identities. Caravan was notably the first Czech film in 30 years to be selected to screen in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard competition lineup, and the notables didn’t stop there: It was also nominated for 11 Czech Lions, the country’s Oscars equivalent, and won two awards, including Best Film. – Kimberley Jones
