Trans cinema exists beyond mainstream Oscar bait that earns cis people awards for sloppily portraying real-life trans people. (Not naming names, but like. Take your freakin’ pick.) In fact, in that begone year of 2001, a little crime caper premiered at the Frameline Film Festival with trans co-leads and directors Harry Dodge and Silas Howard. This buddy picture about two guys on the run from the law and emotional honesty has been called “messy and maladroit” by NYT’s Dave Kehr but, in the same breath, “not without a certain charm.” Recently given a 4K restoration, the flick screens in partnership with aGLIFF and local queer educational org Abundant Masculinities as part of Queer Cinema: Lost and Found. – James Scott
