Most know him as the mind behind Adult Swim’s China, IL series, although just as many old-heads will cite Wizard People, Dear Reader, his comical retelling of a certain black-mold enjoyer’s magic school series. For me, artist Brad Neely always brings to mind “Whopper and a Forty,” an animated music video exploration of a young man’s most simple desires. All these prior works show off Neely’s specific and hilarious voice, which shines all the brighter in this new collected volume of his webcomic covering everything from historical figures to fairy tales. He’s joined by moderator Tanner Hadfield – a co-founder of micro-cinema Hyperreal Film Club, where a screening of Wizard People, Dear Reader plays every December. – James Scott
