BookWoman deserves a pat on the back – only a handful of Austin businesses have reached their golden anniversary, and the fact that an independent bookstore has reached this milestone in the Amazon age is really something. Celebrate with the Therapy Sisters and 10 other song-slingers – Kiya Heartwood, Lara Linette, Nancy Scott, Deann René, Laura Freeman, Stacy Lieder, Christy Claxton, Jean Synodinos, Judy Painter, and MJ Torrance – who keep the bookstore’s 50th birthyear party going with a Sunday afternoon songfest. Special guest Sue Foley will speak and sign copies of her book Guitar Women: Conversations and Life Lessons With Six String Heroines, an oral history/memoir featuring superstars like Bonnie Raitt, Nancy Wilson, and Charo.
