BookWoman 2nd Thursday Poetry Reading and Open Mic welcomes features Allisa Cherry and Lindsey Royal Wayland on Thursday, May 14, from 7:15 to 9:00 p.m. CDT at BookWoman, 5501 N. Lamar #A-105 and on Zoom (registration: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/eG0wr1EbT1WYliXCzakBOA). Cindy Huyser and Julia Ross co-host and a “round robin” open mic follows. Allisa Cherry is the author of the poetry collection An Exodus of Sparks (Michigan State University Press, 2025 ), which won the 2024 Wheelbarrow Books Poetry Prize. Poet, calligrapher, and researcher Lindsey Royal Wayland’s poem “There are Lights to Turn on After Dusk” won the 2026 Rhino Poetry Founder’s Prize.
