Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, John Doe Folk Trio

In the wake of the acclaimed biopic A Complete Unknown, Bob Dylan arrives in Austin not as a museum piece but as a still-restless artist. The 85-year-old songwriter, in great company here with support from Lucinda Williams and the John Doe Folk Trio, favors reinvention over nostalgia by reshaping songs nightly. Yet some of the most intriguing moments in recent sets have come from looking backward, digging into the rockabilly, R&B, and blues that shaped the young Robert Zimmerman in Hibbing, Minnesota. Covering fellow Minnesotan Eddie Cochran’s “Nervous Breakdown” alongside select Jerry Lee Lewis and Bo Diddley nuggets, Dylan still treats the stage as a laboratory rather than a jukebox. – Tim Stegall
