Horns, guitar, a smattering of percussion, and his own whistle layer Bill Callahan’s gravelly weathered rasp as he decides “I’m not a robot and I never will be” late on his latest album, My Days of 58. The man behind Nineties lo-fi project Smog moved to Austin in 2004 and started releasing work under his own name shortly after. His latest is his most autobiographical yet but doesn't sacrifice post-ironic lyrics. “Auto-Tune? I don’t want to hear it/ That’s just prepping us to be satisfied,” he continues.
