Charlie Kaufman’s kaleidoscopic tale of identity, as directed by Spike Jonze, is an insane joyride of creativity and perfect for the library’s Surrealism Cinema series. John Cusack stars as Craig Schwartz, an unemployed puppeteer who discovers a portal into the mind of the actor John Malkovich along with his co-worker Maxine (Catherine Keener). Gender-bendy jealousy hijinks ensue when Craig’s wife Lotte (Cameron Diaz) falls in love with Maxine and vice versa, but only when Lotte inhabits John Malkovich.
