Barton Springs Bridge 100th Birthday

A hundred years ain’t nothin’ to sneeze at, even if grass allergens are supposed to be at their highest this month. Save Our Springs hosts this b-day party for the Barton Springs Bridge, designed by Terrell Bartlett back in 1926 to connect Austin, Zilker Park, and the then-titled Barton Springs Resort. This party features morning festivities like coffee, breakfast tacos, sign making, and a Springs swim as well as evening fun like a birthday card signing, community art making, and a live performance from Bill Oliver and the Otter Space Band. With possible plans for its demolition on the horizon, now’s a great time to celebrate and advocate for one of Austin’s local landmarks. – James Scott
