Avenue Q

Sesame Street and Lamb Chop prove that puppets make learning more effective. And what does Avenue Q teach? That a college degree in English is useless, that the internet is for porn, and that absolutely everyone is a little bit racist. City Theatre’s closing out their 20th summer season with this puppet-packed production. With music and lyrics by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez, the latter of whom also co-birthed “Let It Go,” Avenue Q’s notably less family-friendly tunes are just as catchy. It’s a fuzzy, 18+ event for anyone who’s felt lost in the world – or at least anyone who likes laughing at people who have bumbled their way to self-discovery. – Cat McCarrey
