Austin Film Critics Association Presents Blue Moon
When: Mon., Jan. 12 2026
For its entire 20-year history, a highlight of the Austin Film Critics Association’s annual awards has been the Best Austin Film prize – going to the top movie made by a director resident in Austin. This year saw one of the biggest fields in the prize’s history, and a true first: a director in competition with themself. So commiserations to Richard Linklater for not winning for Nouvelle Vague, and congrats to Richard Linklater for taking the nod for Blue Moon instead. Catch this very special screening with maybe a guest or two for the Oscar-touted period tragi-comedy starring Ethan Hawke as musical genius Lorenz Hart. – Richard Whittaker
