It would seem like an impossible task to sum up the cinema of the entire Asian world and diaspora in one film festival, but somehow AAAFF has managed that into its 18th year. The 2026 lineup for the festival begins with the Austin premiere of Iranian American intergenerational dramedy Honeyjoon and wraps five days later with Chinese drama Gloaming in Luomu, with titles from wild Pakistani comedy Lali to Filipino coming-of-age social commentary Filipiñana in between. – Richard Whittaker
