KUTX’s inaugural town hall festival suffered at the hands of this politically fraught state, so the team reviving Armadillo Records, which birthed the legendary AWHQ, is throwing a benefit. Suggested donation $9.89, the station’s broadcast frequency, applies each day. Friday, the East Cesar Chavez brewhouse hosts a KUTX deejay happy hour, 5-7pm, followed by a hippie cowboy ball (“costumes encouraged”) featuring ATX psychs Holy Wave and alt-awesomes Annabelle Chairlegs. Old Austin Day on Saturday peaks are kids crafts and a memorabilia swap meet with White Denim – think Television at the ’Dillo – plus L.A. indies Arc Iris and SX breakouts Gran Moreno, CDMX sibs gone local with huge orale rock.
