As this paper’s written a million times, Austin IS a film city! Where better to realize this than at Austin Public Library’s Texan-made movie showcase? Short film programs screen throughout the day, all created by local filmmakers young and old. There’ll be all-ages shorts in the morning, teen screenings and narrative shorts around the afternoon, and surreal & experimental programming along with documentary work in the evening. Is the next Robert Rodriguez among these hopefuls? Only one way to know, and that’s showing up at Spicewood Springs. – James Scott
