Austin’s home of the blues officially opened its doors on July 15, 1975. Among a slew of 50th anniversary celebrations throughout June and July, this all-star tribute show doubles as a 96th birthday party for Miss Lavelle White, whose voice boomed throughout Houston and Chicago before she settled for good in Austin, where Clifford Antone’s label released her first album, Miss Lavelle, when she was 65. Trudy Lynn, Guy Forsyth, Jacqui Walker, and Sky Downing salute the queen onstage. – Carys Anderson
