Antonelli’s Cheese Presents: 100 Years of Cheese Tasting

The oldest known cheese was found atop the remains of 3,500-year-old mummy entombed at a burial site in China’s Tarim Basin; apparently, the dead were sent to greet the afterlife with a spot of kefir around their neck. The history of cheese – and how a little history can improve the taste of cheese – will be the subject of this free chat, running as part of the Austin Public Library’s ongoing centennial celebration. Presented by Antonelli’s Cheese and limited to the first 20 folks to show up, the event also includes a cheese tasting. No word on how aged the cheese in question may be. – Kimberley Jones
