Annabelle Chairlegs (album release), Farmer's Wife, Bubba Lucky [outside]

Skybound imagery, neon-bright guitar licks, and getaway car-paced rhythms steer Annabelle Chairlegs’ charismatic voice through a cynically psychedelic maze of rock & roll stylings on the project’s Ty Segall-produced album Waking Up, released late last month. On their third studio album, lead singer Lindsey Mackin and her band sound at home in a sonic universe of their own creation. Friday the 13th, just before Valentine’s Day, fits this optimistically haunted record about love, loss, and liminality like a glove. Pitching in to celebrate its release are prowling grunge rockers Farmer’s Wife and the brash, country-tinged Bubba Lucky. – Caroline Drew
