An Evening With Austin's 2026 Texas Institute of Letters Inductees

Founded in 1936 to celebrate literary achievement in the Lone Star State, the Texas Institute of Letters has some heavy hitters in its books – its Lifetime Achievement Award winners alone makes for a list of essential reading (Larry McMurtry, Cormac McCarthy, Sandra Cisneros). Now, 24 additional authors have been inducted into TIL’s storied membership, including the seven Central Texas writers being feted at this local reception: Maurice Chammah, Adrianna Cuevas, David Wright Faladé, Peniel E. Joseph, Mary Helen Specht, Liliana Valenzuela, and James Wade. TIL president Chris Barton moderates a conversation with them, followed by an audience Q&A. – Kimberley Jones
