Originally hailing from Oakland, California, bassist/composer Amina Scott started playing hometown gigs at the age of 12. After a stint with the Oakland Public Conservatory of Music, she represented the United States at the debut Festival of Music and Dance in the African Diaspora in Lima, Peru. Now based in New Orleans, she’s racked up credits with jazz notables including Dee Dee Bridgewater, David Murray, Nicholas Payton, Steve Turre, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah, Joanne Brackeen, and Adonis Rose’s New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Her quartet here will consist of vibraphonist Jalen Baker, pianist Dayne Reliford, and drummer Gavin Moolchan. – Michael Toland
