There are two enticements to this author reading. The first is to get face time with Alice Hoffman, the prolific author of Practical Magic, on tour to support new novel The Witches of Cambridge, which bounces between the 1950s and Puritan times; in a recent New York Times interview, the 74-year-old explained she wrote the first draft as a term paper while she was enrolled at Harvard Divinity School a couple of years ago.
