With Austin Pride around the corner, now’s a great moment to revisit important moments in American LGBTQ history. That includes November 1985, when activist Cleve Jones first ideated a quilt where every patch commemorated someone who’d died from AIDS. This month, 34 blocks from the original quilt – which continues to be added to – travel to Austin and will be on display starting Saturday, Aug. 16, with movie nights, a special service, and the chance to create your own panel available throughout its showing. – James Scott
