Austin’s traditions persist even amidst all its change, and one of the most accessible and family-friendly is the kite festival. Taking place in Zilker on a spring Saturday every year, it’s an all-day celebration of flight and color as all kinds of creations take to the sky, from professional and dazzling contraptions to your 7-year-old’s ladybug kite from Target.
