Through all the changes in Austin’s music scene over the decades, W.C. Clark was a constant thread that kept the blues vital to its sound. The ATX native became known as the Godfather of Austin Blues for his mentorship to emerging superstars like Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan in the 1970s and his cornerstone role in Triple Threat Revue, but his own soulful vocals and spectacular guitar earned numerous blues honors when he finally gained wider attention in later decades. Nearly two years after his passing, Clark’s longtime contemporary Matthew Robinson pays tribute with a free show at TMM. – Doug Freeman
