We’ve been seeing the Christmas displays in the stores for a while now, but the season doesn’t really kick off until the Zilker Tree is lit. A 155-foot-tall moon tower is topped with a 10-foot sparkling star, from which point 39 streamers strung with thousands of lights are hung to form the stunning tree display. Join the city for the annual lighting ceremony, wherein the tree will be lit by the youth art contest winner, and guests will enjoy music from the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble with ASL interpretation available. – Kat McNevins
