It's common knowledge that cute animals (and all animals are cute, in our opinion) are a surefire way to viewership online. That often amounts to a grainy camera put in an enclosure and little else. Alveus' mixture of livestreams, video shorts, and social media savvy, spearheaded by sanctuary founder Maya Higa, is a great way for kids to zoom in on wildlife (or for adults to just enjoy the slow TV Zen of a sleeping fox or a tortoise munching on greens). Add in a few visits from internet celebrities like HasanAbi or Pokimane for lighthearted content and you have a recipe for clicks and education.
