As he back-pedaled from his civil war-style posturing, reactionary forces in his own party dug their feet in against meaningful and bi-partisan election reform authored by GOPer Rep. Todd Smith and Democrat Rep. Rafael Anchía. The right wanted a hard voter ID, and only parliamentary procedure saved the voting rights of minorities, old people, Democrats, etc.
