Kocurek, who died in March, had a rare knack for bridging this town's political and cultural gaps, and his decades of contributions to Austin's civic consensus – reflected most recently by supporting the efforts to create a hospital district, as well as his work with Envision Central Texas, whose board he chaired – were profound.
