SUMMARY:Michael A. Booker: “Small Comforts"
DESCRIPTION:Michael A. Booker’s archival pen and watercolor works are so atmospheric they evoke cinema\, but carry the unmistakable physicality and emotion of a handheld pen. This Maryland-based artist depicts scenes of comfort\, composure\, and reassurance\, moments of interiority that help us find control and grounding in a chaotic world. Inspired by conversations with fellow Black creatives in the Washington\, D.C.\, area\, these scenes where unease and calm coexist are brought to life with meticulous mark-making and dreamlike chromatic brilliance\, all done with a humble writing implement. &#8\;– Lina Fisher
