SUMMARY:“A Shape Without Sides”
DESCRIPTION:Squiggles\, storms\, stars\, and sunbeams – and other amorphous boundaries – take sideless shapes in acrylic\, paper\, pencil\, oil\, and sculpture across this group show at Northern-Southern. Messy natural movements of swarming\, expelling\, disintegration\, spill onto canvases in rich experiments of color\, texture\, and expression. Michael Mogavero pins a world into a wing\; Michelle Marchesseault creates dimension in simplicity\; Stella Alesi immortalizes ephemeral elements in the Weatherscapes\; Marsha R Fard casts viewers into a tranquil landscape\; and Han Zhang unravels text to explore loss. The shapes of these works are familiar\, though few have names\, and evoke the liminal emotions of a nebulous existence. &#8\;– Caroline Drew
