SUMMARY:Villanelle
DESCRIPTION:Liam loved Lennon\; 30 years later\, his son’s all about Cobain. Alongside guitarist Ben Taylor and bassist Jack Schiavo\, Gene Gallagher fronts Villanelle\, a grunge-loving trio whose debut single “Hinge” recaptures the rough-n-tumble energy of “Breed” as much as “She’s Electric” did its best Sgt. Pepper’s. Elsewhere on May EP Measly Means\, “Opportunity Arising” references dusty desert rock\, “Placebo” pummels with scuzzy\, pit-inducing power chords\, and “Squeeze” gets tender with a slow-swaying melody. The twentysomethings make their ACL Fest debut at the top of the day\, but this 3ten night show will spawn more club catharsis. &#8\;– Carys Anderson
