DESCRIPTION:If you wonder how a pair of green leopard print capris become art\, in Regina Durante Jestrow’s hands\, they’re material to be cut into long strips and then brought into unexpected new arrangements. Her new solo exhibition pushes this cutting and reassembling process through checkerboards\, interlocking grids\, and geometric compositions. These fabrics become more than just contrasting colors and patterns sitting side by side. Collage brings those different histories into new relationships and meanings through their juxtaposition\, and the artist doesn’t erase the differences.
