DESCRIPTION:In her new exhibition\, Amy Banner Updegrove builds mixed-media compositions from repetition\, variations\, and a range of materials. In Kodachrome\, you see 108 small blue and white squares placed in a 9 by 12 grid\, but no two are quite the same. If you look once\, they’re simply blue fields. Look again\, and Updegrove’s pale blue squares seem to change identity. Is that a view of the ocean or a window?
