DESCRIPTION:We’re grateful for the growth of glossy galleries in our ever-modernizing city\, but one shan’t discount the Dougherty\, which continues to place a plethora of thought-provoking\, media-spanning artworks on the walls of Austin’s oldest community arts venue. The Barton Springs center welcomes three new exhibits this month: group show “Recovering the Lost Words\,” which simultaneously celebrates the natural world and memorializes words recently removed from the Oxford Junior Dictionary\; Zoee Xiao’s “Little Memories\,” a collection of dispatches from the artist and her children’s youths\; and Darla Barolini’s “The Classroom\,” a series of large-scale paintings that bring to life the connection\, confusion\, and isolation of our school years with vibrant color and expression. &#8\;– Carys Anderson
