Description
Since 1989, Flatbed Press has been creating multiple original prints of contemporary art works in collaboration with artists. Ten years later, founders Katherine Brimberry and Mark L. Smith, co-owner Gerald Manson, and architect Samantha Randall transformed a vast, bland concrete bunker on the Eastside into an exciting arts incubator with space to house not only their own operations but gallery, office, and studio space for other artists as well. The 18,000 square-foot facility is surprisingly warm, fed by the sound and feel of industrious creativity. Flatbed routinely exhibits art by present and past masters, with special attention to neglected Texas artists, and the huge printmaking shop in the back offer an enthralling glimpse at art made and in the making.
